Qualifikationen

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; Master's degree as required.
• Current, unrestricted Florida PA license.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• ATLS certification or completion within the department's required timeframe, if applicable.
• Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, or surgical experience preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment with the ability to manage high-acuity patients, recognize deterioration, prioritize demands, and work effectively under pressure.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, documentation, and patient/family education skills.

Aufgaben

• Respond to trauma alerts and participate in patient evaluation, resuscitation, stabilization, and ongoing management.
• Perform histories, physical exams, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, orders, and clinical documentation.
• Manage Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (ACS) patients across inpatient, ICU, ED, and consult services.
• Participate in daily rounds, monitor clinical progress, review labs/imaging, and communicate changes to attending surgeons.
• Assist surgeons during emergencies and scheduled procedures as credentialed and privileged.
• Evaluate ED and inpatient surgical consultations and coordinate diagnostic testing, treatment, and disposition.
• Provide preoperative and postoperative care and identify complications or need for escalation.
• Coordinate discharges, medication reconciliation, follow-up, patient education, and transitions of care.
• Provide outpatient trauma/ACS follow-up, postoperative care, wound management, and routine surgical care.
• Perform procedures within scope, competency, and privileges, including airway assistance, chest tube/pigtail placement, wound/laceration repair, drain management, VAC therapy, and suture/staple removal.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, case management, rehabilitation, consultants, and other multidisciplinary team members.
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation and participate in quality improvement, patient safety, education, case reviews, and departmental activities.
• Maintain required certifications, competencies, credentialing, and privileges.
