Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery team at our Level 1 trauma center in Tampa, FL. The APP will collaborate with residents and attendings and may work autonomously within an attending-led model.

Responsibilities include 24/7 coverage of medical-surgical and ICU patients, trauma consults, wound care, and assisting in OR when needed. Florida APRN/PA licensure plus related trauma certifications are required.

Qualifications

Current licensure as APRN or PA in Florida
Board certification for Acute Care or Adult Gerontology Acute Care plus RNFA required for OR first assist
National certification required for PAs
ATLS preferred and must be obtained within 6 months if not already
Experience in trauma, emergency medicine or surgical field preferred
APP fellowship program available for new graduates

Responsibilities

Provides 24/7 primary coverage to patients with attending collaboration
Consults on traumatic or emergent surgical conditions in STICU and other units
Requests, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests per protocols
Performs basic wound care including laceration repair and wound VAC
Rotates clinic coverage to ensure continuity of post-operative and post-trauma care
Guides discharge planning with case managers and social workers
Works autonomously and with a team to manage surgical/traumatic cases
Provides first assist coverage in OR during education days or when residents are short
Assists in trauma resuscitation when residents are encumbered and holds ATLS
Participates in performance improvement projects
