Job summary

Boutique Recruiting is seeking a Trash Compactor Technician in Aurora, IL to diagnose, maintain, and repair commercial compactors, balers, and digesters in customer sites across the region.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with trash equipment, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in demanding field environments, including long travel and rotating on-call. Competitive hourly pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of direct hands-on experience maintaining and repairing trash compactors and balers.
• Proven ability to independently diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment failures.
• Strong understanding of three-phase electrical systems (e.g., 480V, 460V, 208V, 220V).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial trash compactors, balers, and digesters.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment systems.
• Troubleshoot three-phase electrical systems, motors, switches, controls, and directional valves.
• Fabricate and replace hydraulic hoses, cylinders, pumps, valves, and other components.
• Perform installations, removals, and preventative maintenance at customer locations.
• Conduct basic metal cutting, torching, and minor welding repairs as needed.
• Identify equipment failures and implement repair solutions independently.
• Maintain service records and documentation using a tablet-based system.
• Operate and maintain a company-provided service vehicle and tools.
• Communicate with customers and team about repairs and service needs.
• Travel across regional territory with rotating weekend on-call schedule.
• Follow safety procedures in outdoor, industrial, waste-handling environments.
