Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is seeking a Transporter to move patients and visitors to and from clinics and nursing units under the supervision of the Patient Escort Supervisor.

Responsibilities include identifying patients with two identifiers, following hand-off policies, ensuring safety on transfer devices, and using proper body mechanics while prioritizing requests and maintaining clear patient communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Basic computer skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• A solid team player and a commitment to providing excellent patient service and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients and visitors to and from clinics and nursing units as requested.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and follow hand off communication policies.
• Maintain patient safety on transfer devices and use proper body mechanics.
• Know hospital layout and pick the safest, fastest routes for delivery.
• Maintain direct communication with patients to ensure comfort and security.
• Prioritize transport requests and accommodate duties as able.
• Assist in mail collection and/or delivery when duties allow.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the supervisor or lead person the Transporter will be responsible for transporting patients and visitors of all ages to and from various clinics and nursing units within the hospital as requested. This role reports directly to the Patient Escort Supervisor.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Adhere to hospital policies for properly identifying patients using 2 patient identifiers
• Follow hand off communication policies
• Maintain patient safety by securing patients correctly on transfer devices
• Use proper body mechanics when transporting patients
• Have knowledge of hospitalclinic layout and choose the safest and most expedient route for patient delivery
• Maintain direct communication with the patient during transportation to ensure comfort and security
• Prioritize transport requests
• Assist in mail collection andor delivery when duties allow
