Job summary

WellSpan Health is seeking a Patient Transporter to support clinical teams by safely moving patients and equipment. This full-time evening-shift role runs 11:30am–8:00pm, Monday–Friday, with occasional 3:30pm–12:00am and one weekend per month plus one holiday per year.

Requirements: High School Diploma or GED; less than 1 year of relevant experience; Basic Life Support on hire. The job emphasizes safety, excellent customer service, teamwork, and efficient dispatching within a hospital setting.

General Summary

Performs activities related to transportation of patients. Follows established safety guidelines and uses appropriate devices when transporting patients. Provides messenger services on request

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support department areas as directed.
• Assists clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds, chairs, wheelchairs or stretchers using appropriate body mechanics to perform patient lifts.
• Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

Common Expectations

• Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
• Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
• Performs dispatching duties such as receiving transport requests, dispatching available transporters based on established priorities, coordinating transports to minimize delays and maintaining appropriate documentation.
