Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Queens is seeking a Transporter for night shifts to escort patients, deliver items, and maintain a safe, caring environment for patients and families.

The role includes transporting patients from nursing units to hospital departments, delivering Medical Records, Lab Specimens, pharmacy items and equipment, and occasionally changing oxygen tanks on conveyance vehicles. Weekend/holiday coverage is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Some previous experience in food service is desirable.
• Experience in hotel, restaurant or retail industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to hospital departments and move Medical Records, Lab Specimens, pharmacy and other equipment.
• Escort patients and respond to their needs politely to ensure comfort and safety.
• Occasionally change oxygen tanks and apply regulators on conveyance vehicles.

Maintain a culture of compassion, caring, warmth and support while escorting patients to areas throughout the hospital conducting yourself in a courteous manner and responding to patients’ needs and inquiries politely and promptly. Spend quality time and build solid relationships with patients and their families. Go above and beyond for patients, deliver superior customer service and ensure their comfort and safety at all times. In this role you will transport patients from the nursing units to various hospital departments; to make pick-ups and deliveries of Medical Records, Lab Specimens, pharmacy and other equipment. May need to change O2 tanks, and apply O2 regulators on conveyance vehicles.

This is a Full time night shift position, including weekends/holidays located at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens located in Flushing, NY.

Weekends are required for the first 2 years.

Required Criteria

• High School Diploma or GED
• Some previous experience in food service is desirable.
• Ability to follow simple directions.

Preferred Criteria

• Extensive customer service experience and a desire to Put Patients First.
• Experience in the hotel, restaurant or retail industry.

Salary Range:

$26.24-$27.91/Hourly
