Transporter - Central Transportation

Description

Education Requirements: High School Graduate.

Experience: None Required.

Responsibilities

Work closely with patients with varying acuity levels.
Maintain good relationships with nursing units and other hospital departments.
Understand and practice principles of safe patient transfer techniques.
Understand oxygen administration, IV equipment, and various tubes and dressings while transporting a patient.

Physical Demands

Good physical and mental health. Must be able to lift, bend, pull, and push using good body mechanics without limitations. Must possess visual acuity with corrective lenses to read printed material and visualize patients to detect changes in color or respirations. Must have hearing ability with auditory aids to understand normal speaking voice and speaking ability to ask and answer pertinent questions and relay information. Must be able to wear a properly fitting respiratory protective mask for periods of time without limitations. Able to work under supervision or independently as directed by the situation. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.

Supervises: None. Supervised By: Transport Supervisor and Nursing Supervisor.
