Job summary

Coral West Community Hospital is seeking a full-time transporter to move patients to and from Imaging Services. You will assist the front desk and support the department as needed while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include handling wheelchairs and stretchers, following hospital policies, and contributing to infection control efforts. CPR certification is required, and prior hospital experience is preferred.

Job description

Responsible for transporting patients by wheel chair or stretcher to and from Imaging Services Department. Assist the front desk as needed. Other duties as assigned by Director and/or Lead tech.

Provides high quality patient care by maintaining the safety, comfort and dignity of the patient at all times.

Provides appropriate care to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.

Demonstrate proper respect, attitude, courtesy, professionalism and communication skills towards patients, staff, co-workers, doctors, administration personnel.

Treats patients with care as to confidentiality and rights.

Transport patients to and from Imaging Services Department.

Must have knowledge of hospital policies and functions of the other departments.

Assists in maneuvering the portable radiology equipment.

Helps maintain the equipment and assists in cleaning the department, except for those duties pertaining directly to the Environmental Services personnel.

Participates in hospital’s QAPI, safety and infection control studies as assigned.

May be required to vary shifts and/or weekend rotation as the needs of the department dictate. Occasionally may require overtime.

Performs other assigned duties as required.

Physical Demands

Heavy work: Exerting over 100 pounds of force frequently. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree and requires sitting a minimal amount of time.

Subject to exposure to electrical and radiant energy hazards.
