Job summary

MedStar Health in Maryland is seeking an experienced supervisor to lead the transportation team within Imaging Services, coordinating patient movement and supporting clinical operations. This role acts as the departmental point person, coordinating with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other staff to ensure seamless patient transport and high-quality service.

You will oversee staffing, scheduling, training, and compliance with safety standards, while collaborating with hospital leadership

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of supervision and delegation experience required.
• One year of relevant professional work experience may substitute for one year of education.
• CPR certification (AHA/Red Cross) within 90 days required.

Responsibilities

• Acts as department liaison between transporters and Imaging Administration.
• Assists with selection, training, orienting and assigning department staff.
• Maintains ongoing communication to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments and exchange information.
• Manages daily transporters' activities and staffing schedules; coordinates workload and time-off requests.
• Ensures quality services for patients and maintains safety standards across the transport operations.

General Summary of Position

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Acts as department liaison/point person between transporters and Imaging Administration. Establishes and maintains communication within the department and with other hospital departments.
• Assists with the selection training orienting and assigning department staff. Maintains ongoing communication with subordinates to review programs provide feedback discuss new developments and exchange information.
• Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Ensures the delivery of quality services for patients and in area of operations. Acts as an educational resource.
• Exhibits working knowledge and expertise of current policies and procedures and consults with associates concerning interpretation and administration of such.
• Manages and coordinates daily activities of transporters with workload requirements and available personnel. Responsible for staffing schedules and time off requests. Knowledge of report express to assist with payroll. (Timekeeper).
• Manages utilization of equipment. Responsible for maintenance of department facilities in a condition to promote efficiency and the health comfort and safety of patients and staff. Reports malfunctioning or safety hazards of transport equipment.
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required and
• strong knowledge of employee relations issues preferred

Experience

• 1-2 years 2 years experience in the supervision and delegation of staff required
• One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

Licenses and Certifications

• CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and
• Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Good mediation and counseling skills.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software applications.
• Knowledge of Report Express preferred.
• Verbal and written communication skills.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $18.40 - USD $29.74 /Hr.
