Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is seeking a transporter to move patients to and from departments and to support darkroom and front-office tasks. The role includes filing, retrieving records, and assisting with PACS and general clerical duties.

Evening shifts require good telephone etiquette and welcoming interactions with patients and visitors. Prior transportation experience is preferred, and a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Must have BCLS (AHA) certification on hire and maintain it throughout employment.
• Transportation experience is preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from the department.
• Perform darkroom duties and front office tasks as needed.
• Order supplies, stock, and dress patients as required.
• Handle clerical duties: answer phones, greet patients, prepare requisitions.
• Retrieve patient records for physicians or medical records and assist with PACS tasks.
• Provide courteous receptionist duties and assist visitors; general facility errands.

Responsibilities

The transporter transports patients to and from the department. Other duties include but are not limited to; Darkroom duties, ordering supplies, stocking, dressing patients and front office duties. This performs clerical duties for the department such as answering telephones, greeting patients and preparing requisitions for outpatients. Other duties include, but are not limited to, filing patient reports, retrieving patient records for physicians or medical records. The transporter should demonstrate adequate knowledge of the usual terminology of tests ordered in department person should demonstrate good telephone etiquette and be able to greet patients and other visitors in a polite and friendly manner. Provides clerical support by utilizing telephone, computer, office equipment, PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System) and by running errands throughout the facility.

1. Must have BCLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current throughout employment
2. Transportation experience preferred

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $16.20. to $23.46. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
