Job summary

The Maine Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Worker in Dallas Plantation, ME. Starting pay is $22.33 per hour (Step 4) with a 20% stipend, and includes extensive benefits and training opportunities to grow within the agency.

Responsibilities include road and bridge maintenance, with opportunities for CDL training, snowfighter training, and promotional growth as you gain licensure and experience.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to work at a higher class as necessary and with required licenses.
• State-paid medical exam including drug test and respirator fit test.
• Obtain Class C license by first day of employment, then Class B within six months.
• Ability to become a certified snow fighter within 12 months.
• Ability to obtain flagger certification within a specified time.

Responsibilities

• Keep roadways and bridges safe; perform road repair and snow removal as assigned.
• Learn CDL-related tasks; participate in training and exams.
• Work long hours in varied weather to ensure public safety on Maine roads.
