Job summary

DC Department of Human Resources is seeking a Transportation Specialist within the Traffic Signals & Engineering Division of DDOT to review traffic control plans and ensure safe work zones. The role includes field audits, documentation, and coordination to improve transportation operations in the Nation's Capital.

The incumbent will perform technical plan reviews for compliance, track work zones, assess multimodal access, and support safe movement for all roadway users.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate/Graduate education in a field related to transportation or engineering.
• Specialized experience is defined as at least 1 year at or above the next lower grade level.
• Experience reviewing Transportation Management Plans (TMPs) or Traffic Control Plans (TCP) is preferred.
• Familiarity with DDOT standards and Temporary Traffic Control Manuals is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review TCPs for multimodal access, safety, and efficiency.
• Conduct field audits to verify work zone devices, signs, markings, barriers, and lighting.
• Prepare audit reports, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor work zones and compliance with TMPs to ensure service performance.
• Respond to inquiries and coordinate with stakeholders on service changes.
