Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking a motivated intern to join our Transportation Water Resources team. The internship offers hands-on experience in hydrologic and hydraulic design, stormwater management, and environmental compliance for transportation infrastructure projects.

You will assist with design analyses, modeling, and permitting, while gaining exposure to local, state, and federal water resources regulations and collaborating with engineers and environmental scientists.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Strong interest in water resources and transportation infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Exposure to engineering software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, or GIS is a plus).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

WRA is seeking a highly motivated intern to join our Transportation Water Resources team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in hydrologic and hydraulic design, stormwater management, and environmental compliance for transportation infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the design and analysis of stormwater management systems, drainage structures, and erosion and sediment control plans.
  • Support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using software such as HEC‑RAS, HY‑8, and TR‑55.
  • Help prepare construction documents, technical reports, and permit applications.
  • Conduct field investigations and assist with data collection and site assessments.
  • Collaborate with engineers and environmental scientists on multidisciplinary transportation projects.

The expected hourly compensation range for this position is $21.50 - $24.50. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
