Job summary

West Bend Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Transportation Underwriter to join our Commercial Lines Underwriting team. This role focuses on underwriting, relationship building with independent agents, and contributing to profitable growth for assigned agencies.

The candidate will work in a hybrid/remote setup within Wisconsin, with potential travel to office locations for engagement activities. Strong analytical, communication, and mentoring skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Meet agency profitability and production objectives for an assigned group of agencies by underwriting new commercial business, renewal policies and endorsements.
• Understand and evaluate exposures related to individual risks through mentoring involvement.
• Integrate these functions within the workflow of a Commercial Underwriter.
• Assist in the analysis of agency and book of business results to determine corrective actions.
• Support the Commercial Enterprise Division and the Regional Sales Manager in identifying corrective measures to assure an underwriting profit.
• Help in establishing action plans and communicating with agents.
