Job summary

Risk Placement Services (RPS), a division of Gallagher, is seeking an Underwriter to join our Transportation team. You will build broker relationships, underwrite transportation and commercial auto portfolios, and collaborate with agents to deliver creative risk solutions.

The role emphasizes evaluating risk, pricing, and terms to drive profitable growth while maintaining strong relationships with agency partners and carriers across a dynamic marketplace.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
• Detail oriented; strong analytical skills and good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal transportation and commercial auto business within established authority.
• Evaluate risk characteristics, pricing, coverage structures, and policy terms to ensure profitable growth.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail agents and agency partners.
• Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing to secure new business opportunities.
• Analyze loss history, financial information, and underwriting data to make sound risk decisions.
• Collaborate with carrier partners to identify coverage solutions for transportation-related exposures.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and transportation industry developments.
