Job summary

Gallagher is seeking an underwriting professional to assess property and casualty applications, applying guidelines to issue policies on standard or substandard bases.

You will evaluate risk based on property value, location, usage, safety features, and other data, with frequent field contact to support underwriting decisions.

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience are required, along with proficiency in Windows and MS Office, plus strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines for standard or substandard policies.
• Determines whether to accept, modify or decline a risk by evaluating property value, location, usage, and safety features.
• Maintains frequent contact with field teams to gather information to support underwriting decisions.
• May provide support to Underwriter Senior in servicing and management of accounts.
• No production goals assigned to the role.

How you'll make an impact

• Underwrites individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.
• Determines whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.
• Has frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions.
• Does not have any assigned Production goals.
• May provide support to Underwriter Senior in servicing and management of accounts.

About You

Required: Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
