Job Description

DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is hiring. We are seeking Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (all levels) to join our team around Troutman, NC. While you'll be assigned to a home office, most positions will report directly to the field/project.

The Transportation Technician is responsible for performing complex technical tasks in field surveying, construction layout, engineering computations, construction inspection, and field testing.

Primary Responsibilities

• Document daily contractor efforts.
• Prepare and maintain project field books and density logs.
• Sample and test materials.
• Assist in preparing Final Estimates packages.
• Measure distances and verify construction dimensions.
• Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of construction work.
• Inspect ongoing work for compliance with standards and specifications.
• Prepare material samples for lab testing.
• Inspect finished installations for quality and standards compliance.
• Record material quantities used or received.
• Maintain daily logs of construction and inspection activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 4+ years of construction inspection experience, including 1+ years in roadway or bridge inspection.
• AAS in Civil Engineering Technology plus 2+ years of experience, with at least 1+ year in roadway construction inspection.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Completion of Critical Structures Construction Issues Self-Study Course and submission of certification.
• Ability to work 40+ hours per week, with potential overtime.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Certifications

• QMS Roadway, Concrete, ABC Sampling, Borrow Pit Sampling, Density, EC Level 2, DOT Intermediate MOT, and others.
