DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is HIRING, and we're searching for Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (all levels) to join our team around the Charlotte area. *While you'll be assigned to a home office, most of these positions will report directly to the field/project. The Transportation Technician is responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.

Description

DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is HIRING. We're seeking Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (all levels) to join our Charlotte area team. *While you'll be assigned to a home office, most of these positions will report directly to the field/project. The Transportation Technician performs complex technical tasks in field surveying, construction layout, engineering computations, inspection, and testing.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include:

  • Document daily contractor efforts.
  • Prepare and maintain project field books.
  • Prepare density log books and documentation.
  • Sample and test materials.
  • Assist in preparing final estimates.
  • Measure distances to verify construction dimensions.
  • Verify levels, alignment, and elevations of work.
  • Observe work to ensure compliance with procedures and materials.
  • Collect and prepare samples for lab testing.
  • Inspect finished work for conformity to standards.
  • Record material quantities received or used.
  • Maintain logs of construction and inspection activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Receive general instructions; exercise initiative and judgment.
  • Assist senior staff and project administrators.
  • Prepare backup documentation for progress and final estimates.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma + 4+ years in construction inspection, including 1+ year in roadway/bridge inspection.
  • AAS in Civil Engineering Technology + 2+ years, with at least 1+ year roadway inspection.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Complete required courses and submit certification.
  • Ability to work 40+ hours/week, including overtime.
  • Teamwork skills and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Certifications:

  • QMS Roadway, Concrete, ABC Sampling, Borrow Pit Sampling, Density, EC Level 2, DOT Intermediate MOT, etc.
