Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Inspector/Surveyor to assist in roadway and bridge project inspections, sampling, testing, and reporting.

Responsibilities include inspecting asphalt and concrete placements, traffic control devices, maintaining records, and assisting in utility coordination. Requires a high school diploma and at least one year of related experience. Work may involve outside hours and exposure to traffic and environmental hazards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect roadway components (asphalt, concrete curb/gutter, sidewalk, storm drain) for compliance and quality.
• Inspect traffic control devices for compliance and safety.
• Maintain project records and daily work reports; assist in monthly construction prep.
• Assist in coordination of utility conflicts and survey/inspection activities for roadways and bridges.
