Our Construction Management Team seeks a Transportation Technician I to conduct standard inspection procedures on transportation projects in Hendersonville, NC, during and after construction, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with plans and specifications. Opportunities are available statewide. This position is not eligible for employer sponsorship except for TN visa classification.

This position is available in multiple locations within North Carolina and will be discussed during the interview with the hiring manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects, including roadway and bridge construction, to verify adherence to plans and specifications.
2. Perform routine material testing.
3. Measure and track quantities of pay items.
4. Maintain records such as material certifications, testing reports, and daily diaries.
5. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Required Experience

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Active driver's license.
• NCDOT certifications such as Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing are preferred.
• Construction inspection experience on NCDOT projects is preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field, often outdoors, with exposure to hazards such as heights, highway traffic, and rough terrain. Ability to perform moderate physical activities, including walking, climbing, kneeling, and standing, and lift up to 50 lbs. Night and weekend work may be required.
