The Transportation Supervisor is a leadership role and will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating transportation operations for IMGA.
Position Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee activities related to scheduling, dispatching, routing and tracking transportation vehicles from on-site, inbound and outbound fleet.
- Direct and problem solve transportation schedules to create and maximize efficiencies.
- Experience with software tools for scheduling, maintenance and other applicable applications.
- Make recommendations to Transportation Manager for cost savings and efficiency improvements by analyzing data and identifying trends / opportunities.
- Plan, organize and manage the work of direct staff to ensure that work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
- Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, following FDOT / FL safety standards and regulations.
- Ensure that transportation group provides excellent internal and external customer service.
- Maintains personnel records and other mandated information which is required ( route information, budget, vehicle inspection records, fuel use, time reports, DOT forms, etc) for the purpose of meeting regulatory requirements.
- Performs personnel administrative functions ( hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, providing professional development opportunities, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and ensuring department / program outcomes are achieved.
- Procures fuel, oil, shop supplies, parts, etc. for the purpose of ensuring availability of required items for transportation department.
- Responds to emergencies including after-hours situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external parties ( staff, parents, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among parties and / or providing direction.
- Schedules repairs on vehicles for the purpose of ensuring that the vehicle is in a safe operating condition.
- The position requires the ability to plan and also respond quickly to develop and execute transportation solutions.
- Adhering to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Strong analytical skills for problem solving
- Experience in transportation or logistics environment.
- Must have employee supervision experience to include employee relations, performance management, hiring, training and coaching.
- Strong decision making, negotiation and problem solving skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple projects
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to interfacewith a variety of audiences
- Ability to multi taskin a fast-paced organization
- A superior work ethic
- Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics & transportation, business or related field
- Experience in multi transportation environment
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
- Ability to lift, move, pushand pull equipment or boxes in excess of40 lbs.
- Must be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time
- Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, stairs, etc.
- This role is considered essential and may be required to work during weather emergencies or business closures in order to meet operational requirements
