Job summary

PFG Customized Distribution in Gainesville, FL is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to oversee driver teams and daily distribution operations. The role involves coaching staff, riding with drivers for training, and ensuring DOT compliance across delivery activities.

The position requires a CDL-A, 1+ year of transportation experience, and the ability to work early mornings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Schedule includes mid-shift and overnight hours across multiple days.

Qualifications

• Must have an active CDL-A and ability to operate company vehicles.
• At least 1 year of transportation experience including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations.
• Experience in operation of computerized fleet management systems within foodservice industry.
• Availability to work all shifts including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
• Proposed Schedule: three mid-shift days (2:00 PM - 11:00 PM) and two overnight shifts (9:00 PM - 6:00 AM) each week.

Responsibilities

• Performs safety and quality observations of delivery drivers to ensure safe operations.
• Assists Transportation Manager with day-to-day administration of transportation and delivery functions.
• Monitors vehicle safety and ensures proper use of safety equipment.
• Coordinates driver information like license status, tickets, accidents and safety data.
• Ensures accurate delivery and driver paperwork (invoices, DVIRs, logs, reports).
• Maintains trucks, tractors and trailers via post-trip inspections.

Job Description:

1. Supervises associates to include, but not limited to: staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution.
2. Rides with drivers for training and/or evaluation purposes.
3. Performs safety and quality observations of delivery drivers to ensure safe and effective operations.
4. Assists Transportation Manager with overall day-to-day administration of transportation and delivery functions, which may include calculating driver payroll, reviewing driver trip logs and expense reports, identifying and resolving problems, and ensuring that drivers are compliant with DOT and OpCo regulations. Operates computer keyboard to enter and access data in automated fleet management system.
5. Ensures drivers fulfill duties safely by monitoring vehicle safety, safe usage of ramps and handcarts, seat and weight belt use, and safe lifting and product-handling practices. May attend quarterly safety meetings.
6. Coordinates tracking of all relevant information on drivers, such as license status, traffic tickets, accidents and other risk and safety- related data.
7. Ensures accurate completion of all delivery and driver-related paperwork including invoices, cash receipts, collection register, trip reports, fuel tickets, deposit slips, DOT logs, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), driver qualification files and accident reporting.
8. Ensures maintenance of all trucks, tractors and trailers through detailed review of post-trip inspections.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
10. Required to work all shifts necessary.

• Proposed Schedule: This position is expected to work three (3) mid-shift days (2:00 PM - 11:00 PM) and two (2) overnight shifts (9:00 PM - 6:00 AM) each week. Schedule may be adjusted based on business needs.

Preferred qualifications:

• Supervisory Experience within foodservice distribution industry.
• 1-year internal experience
• 4-6 years external Transportation Experience
