Transportation Security Officers

Transportation Security Officers are responsible for providing security and protection of travelers across all transportation sectors in a courteous and professional manner. Their duties may also extend to securing high-profile events, important figures, and anything that impacts our transportation systems. Qualifications

To qualify for the SV-D pay band (equivalent to GS-5/6), you must meet one of the following:

1. Experience: At least one year of full-time work experience in security, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician.
2. Education: High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or TASC high school equivalency certificate.

Credit for experience is based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited proportionally. Volunteer experience in national service programs is also credited.

Additional Requirements

• Travel: Occasional travel for training and other duties.
• Selective Service: Verification required for male applicants born after 12/31/59.
• Credit Check: No delinquent taxes or child support.
• Residency: Resided in the U.S. for three of the last five years, with some exceptions.
• Reemployed Annuitants: May face salary reduction due to pension.
• Dress and Appearance: Must adhere to TSA dress code and appearance standards, including covering tattoos and body piercings as specified.

Work Schedules

Full-time positions require 40 hours/week with shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Part-time shifts range from 16-32 hours/week and may include similar irregular hours.

Maintaining Employment
