Transportation Security Officers

Transportation Security Officers are responsible for providing security and protection of travelers across all transportation sectors in a courteous and professional manner. Their duties may also extend to securing high-profile events, important figures, and other activities impacting transportation systems. Qualifications

1. Experience: At least one year of full-time work experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician.
2. OR
3. Education: High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or TASC high school equivalency certificate.

Credit for experience is based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited proportionally. Volunteer experience through National Service programs or other organizations is also credited.

Additional Requirements

• Travel: Occasional travel for training, up to six weeks, paid and reimbursed per TSA policy.
• Selective Service: Verification required for male applicants born after 12/31/59.
• Credit Check: No delinquent taxes or child support payments.
• Residency: Must have resided in the U.S. for three of the last five years, with some exceptions.
• Reemployed Annuitants: Not eligible for NDAA salary offset waiver.
• Appearance: Must adhere to TSA dress and appearance standards, including covering tattoos and body piercings as specified.
• Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and irregular hours.
• Maintaining Employment: Complete training, certifications, background checks, and drug tests.
