Job summary

Detroit Public Schools Community District seeks a Program Associate I - Router & Special Projects to oversee planning, routing, and optimization of school transportation services. This role manages yellow bus, van, and small vehicle routes, ensuring safety and on-time service.

You will use Versatrans routing software and coordinate with multiple departments to support district-wide transportation initiatives. Travel within Detroit may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or a minimum of five (5) years of school district transportation experience or equivalent.
• Experience using Versatrans routing software or similar routing/scheduling system.
• Project management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain yellow bus, van, and small vehicle routes.
• Communicate route changes to vendors.
• Monitor on-time performance of vendors.
• Verify driver route times and stop times for accuracy.
• Maintain a safe transportation environment.
• Coordinate transportation for special events.
• Meet with school officials to keep routes current.
• Collaborate with Detroit Department of Transportation leadership.
• Coordinate scheduling and distribution of routes and vehicles.
• Assist schools with transportation items and concerns.
• Participate in district transportation committees.
• Work with Office of Exceptional Student Education.
