Job description

ATCS is seeking a highly motivated, multi-faceted Roadway Design Engineer to join our team. This is a hybrid role with four days per week required onsite in our Glen Allen, VA office. This is an exciting opportunity to support our roadway design services group in Virginia. This individual will perform a variety of engineering tasks relative to VDOT and various municipal roadway design projects. The diversity of responsibilities requires a flexible mindset and cooperative team-oriented attitude with progressively increasing design and management capabilities.

Job Responsibilities

• Planning and design of transportation-related facilities
• Familiarity with the VDOT Roadway Design Manual and AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design
• Supporting Senior Staff in a variety of tasks in the field of transportation design
• Designing horizontal and vertical roadway geometry
• Preparing various stages of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Drafting technical reports
• Conducting field visits during design or construction
• Participating in client and public meetings

Required Skills

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
• 1-4 years' experience in the field of transportation engineering
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and able to thrive in a busy environment with multiple assignments
• The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills
• Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Demonstrate experience with MicroStation V8i, OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and OpenRoads, ConceptStation

Our employees are the most critical part of ATCS. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $63,000 to $90,900 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, with a target 2% of the employee's annualized salary.
