Job summary

The Poarch Creek Indians seek a Transportation & Roads Technician to support Public Works and the Transportation Planner Director. You will coordinate with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, research programs and grants, and assist with special projects to advance tribal transportation initiatives.

This role emphasizes budgets, documentation, GIS data management with ArcGIS, and collaboration across tribal departments and partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field required.
  • Three (3) years of experience working with budgets including required reports and budgets.
  • Three (3) years of experience in IT, software management, data collection, or program oversight.
  • Must possess certification in basic ARC-GIS software or obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • College level Principles of Accounting I and II preferred.
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours as needed.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Must complete the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training and events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, proofread, and maintain correspondence, reports, grants, contracts, and other departmental documents.
  • Provide administrative support for Public Works, Transportation, Facilities, grants, contracts, and projects.
  • Coordinate with Tribal departments, government agencies, consultants, and other partners on projects and program activities.
  • Monitor grants and contracts for compliance, deadlines, budgets, expenditures, reports, and required documentation.
  • Prepare and track budgets, invoices, expenditures, project schedules, grant requirements, and reporting deadlines.
  • Coordinate consultant assignments, invoices, plan submittals, project schedules, and related communications.
  • Maintain accurate departmental, grant, contract, and project records and files.
  • Support federal and Tribal transportation programs, including planning, maintenance, and improvement projects.
  • Maintain and update GIS and transportation data using ArcGIS, including the National Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory.
  • Conduct fieldwork and collect roadway and transportation data as needed.
  • Schedule meetings, maintain calendars, prepare minutes, and provide general administrative support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
