Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm with over 2,300 professionals providing engineering, architecture, IT, and related services across the U.S. Ranked #61 on ENR's Top 500 Design Firms, we are seeking Transportation Quality Assurance Inspectors for multiple positions on PennDOT's Major Bridge Initiative in Susquehanna County.

Position Overview

Apply standard quality assurance inspection procedures during and after construction to ensure structural quality, safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes. Note: This position is not eligible for employer sponsorship except for TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Inspect large, multiyear highway construction projects, including structures, roadway restoration, and traffic improvements, verifying compliance with contract requirements.
2. Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods.
3. Verify conformance for testing of concrete, soils, and other materials.
4. Measure dimensions and verify levels, alignments, and elevations of structures and pavements.
5. Record field notes, prepare reports, and maintain project records using PennDOT ECMS and other systems.

Nonessential Functions

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Computer proficiency, strong communication, and documentation skills.
• Active driver's license and reliable vehicle, with successful completion of JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-4 years of construction inspection experience, preferably in transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction, NECEPT-Bituminous Field Technician, PennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI), CDS NeXtGen, ECMS Wave 5.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

Working Conditions

Work is field-based, involving bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting objects up to 25 lbs. Conditions may include outdoor work in various weather.
