Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a seasoned project management professional to oversee complex transportation projects from initiation to completion. You will coordinate engineering design, construction activities, and funding with internal staff, consultants, and FHWA, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.

The successful candidate will apply engineering principles, manage teams, monitor schedules, and communicate outcomes clearly to stakeholders and the public.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including presentations.
• Ability to plan, coordinate and manage multiple projects and contracts.
• Engineering experience related to transportation design, construction and the project development process.
• Knowledge of roadway design criteria, construction methods, standards, specifications and materials.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret engineering data and information; prepare complete, clear reports and recommendations.
• Assemble project teams and oversee performance, building cohesiveness for timely completion.
• Budget management: monitor and adjust budgets to meet objectives using PM software.
• Establish effective communication between VDOT, contractors, agencies and the public; resolve issues.
• Manage communications between team members and stakeholders; report progress to sponsors and leadership.
