What We're Looking For

Are you ready to make a significant impact on fast-paced infrastructure projects? HNTB is seeking a passionate Transportation Project Manager I to lead our innovative project teams. In this pivotal role, you'll manage budgets, schedules, technical requirements, and contractual obligations, ensuring top-notch performance and client satisfaction. Your expertise will make a real difference in transportation engineering by solving complex design challenges.

What You'll Do:

1. Develop project scope and fee quotations; assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts following HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
2. Serve as the primary client liaison; manage the project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budgets; assist with project scoping and contract negotiations.
3. Perform technical tasks including analysis, reporting, design, specifications, and production for assigned projects.
4. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA); lead development and execution of the project management plan; supervise and mentor team members.
5. Coordinate with managers on staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and performance reviews.
6. Collaborate with Client Service Leaders and pursuit teams to support business development, build client relationships, and prepare proposals and presentations for strategic projects.
7. Potentially oversee recruitment, hiring, and staff development, including performance and compensation reviews.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
2. 2 years of task management or Deputy PM experience.

Primary Focus Will Include:

1. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects.
2. Managing and leading design teams on projects with construction values of $100M to $2.5B.
3. Supervising, coaching, and mentoring junior staff.
4. Engaging throughout the project lifecycle, including bid, post-award, and construction phases.
5. Traveling to project sites as needed.
6. Managing staff, developing proposals, controlling budgets, and ensuring quality on projects.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

1. Experience managing Design-Build projects.
2. Master’s degree in Engineering.
3. 10+ years of relevant experience.
4. Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
5. Experience in collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environments.

The approximate pay ranges vary by location, e.g., for New York: $123,854.48 - $242,151.39; for Los Angeles: $142,432.65 - $222,779.29. Actual compensation depends on qualifications, experience, and work location.
