What We're Looking For

Are you ready to make a significant impact on fast-paced infrastructure projects? HNTB is seeking a passionate Transportation Project Manager I to lead our innovative project teams. In this role, you'll manage budgets, schedules, technical requirements, and contractual obligations to ensure top performance and client satisfaction. Your expertise will contribute to solving complex transportation engineering challenges.

What You'll Do:

1. Develop project scope and fee quotations; assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts following HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
2. Serve as the primary client liaison, managing the project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budgets; assist with project scoping and contract negotiations.
3. Perform technical tasks including analysis, reporting, design, specifications, and production for assigned projects.
4. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA); lead development and execution of project management plans; supervise and mentor team members.
5. Coordinate with managers on staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and performance reviews.
6. Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit teams to support business development, build client relationships, and prepare proposal and presentation materials; lead proposal development and client presentations.
7. May oversee recruitment, hiring, staff development, and succession planning.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
2. At least 2 years of task management or Deputy PM experience.

Primary Focus Will Include:

1. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects.
2. Managing and leading design teams on projects with construction values between $100M and $2.5B.
3. Supervising, coaching, and mentoring junior staff.
4. Engaging throughout the project lifecycle, including pre-award, post-award, and construction phases.
5. Traveling to project sites as needed.
6. Managing staff, developing proposals, controlling budgets, and ensuring quality on projects.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

1. Experience managing Design-Build projects.
2. Master’s degree in Engineering.
3. 10 or more years of relevant experience.
4. Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
5. Experience in multidisciplinary, collaborative engineering environments.

The approximate pay ranges are:

• New York: $123,854.48 - $242,151.39
• Los Angeles Metro Area and Orange County, CA: $142,432.65 - $222,779.29
