Job summary

Southeastern Engineering in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Project Manager to serve as the primary source of project information and liaison to citizens, officials, and stakeholders. The role requires overseeing schedules, budgets, and resources to deliver GDOT programs.

You will lead a team, manage 15–20 projects, and ensure timely, high-quality results while maintaining a broad, program-wide perspective and coordinating with RDG and the Controls Group.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in program or project management with clients and staff.
  • Professional license (PE) or PMP preferred.
  • Strong communications, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and multitasking skills.
  • Experience with GDOT projects and knowledge of PDP/LAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects for GDOT with PDP and LAP knowledge.
  • Manage project financials, PSRs, scheduling principles (P6, recovery).
  • Lead by example, steward of projects, clients, contracts, and people.
  • Able to manage a large workload (15–20 projects) and coordinate with the Roadway Design Group (RDG) and leadership.
  • Deliver projects on time with quality by focusing on team contributions.
  • Understand program vs project management and maintain the big-picture view.

The Project Manager is the source of all project information, past and present. This individual has the authority to use resources within an organization for completion of a given project. The Project Manager is the representative to the citizenry, elected officials, executive management, and other public stakeholders of the project. The Project Manager must alert management to risks, to scope, schedule, budget, fiscal year, and controversy.

Responsibilities
  • Shows leadership ability and an in-depth and exemplary knowledge of project management principles and processes (for GDOT projects this references the PDP and LAP, internal GDOT workings, procurement and financials). Understands local government processes for County and City projects.
  • Possesses an in-depth knowledge of project financials (PFR’s, PO’s), PSR’s, and scheduling principles (including recovery, P6, and GDOT schedule templates).
  • Leads by example as a steward of our projects, program, clients, contracts, and people.
  • Able to manage a large workload (15 – 20 projects) and/or complex projects independently by fully engaging the Roadway Design Group (RDG), holding effective team meetings, providing accurate, timely and detailed reporting to clients, and cooperating with the Controls Group and program leadership.
  • Displays the ability to shift focus from individual contributions to valuing the contributions of a team in order to deliver projects on time with quality.
  • Understands the difference of program management vs. project management and operates with the "big picture" in mind.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in business management or business administration preferred.
  • Must have 5-7 years of related experience managing clients and staff.
  • Professional Engineering license or PMP preferred.
  • Must be highly skilled in communications, problem solving, conflict resolution and multi-tasking.
  • Proven experience as a Program Manager or experience in other managerial positions.
  • Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods.
  • Excellent Knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics.
  • Outstanding knowledge of data analysis, reporting and budgeting.
  • Working knowledge of MS office and program management software (P6).
