Job summary

Bloom Companies is seeking a Project Engineer with experience in highway construction principles for our Minneapolis team. The role focuses on managing roadway construction projects, monitoring schedules and budgets, and ensuring quality through adherence to MnDOT standards.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with MnDOT construction management experience and 3+ years in construction inspection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• MnDOT Construction Management experience.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in construction inspection.
• MnDOT certification in Aggregate Production, Bituminous Street, Grading and Base, Concrete Field, Bridge Construction.
• Familiarity with MnDOT standards, specifications, and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and CADD (MicroStation).
• Preferred: GEOPAK and MicroStation knowledge.
• Preferred: FE or PE license.

Responsibilities

• Highly motivated, qualified and client service orientated Project Engineer specializing in roadway/highway construction management
• Construction schedule monitoring
• Project budget monitoring
• Understand and implement project plans and special provisions
• Evaluate and document construction operations
• Complete required project documentation including progress payments and contract changes to achieve final project acceptance
• Ensure quality control activities are performed for all assigned work and back check work of others
• Interact and communicate effectively with team members, clients and other agencies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• MnDOT Construction Management experience
• 3+ years of progressive experience in construction inspection
• One or more of MnDOT construction material certifications in: Aggregate Production, Bituminous Street, Grading and Base, Concrete Field, Bridge Construction
• Familiarity with MnDOT standards, specifications, and procedures
• Good decision making skills, flexibility, focus on quality and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and Power Point) CADD (MicroStation preferred)
• Preferred Additional Experience (Not Required): Experience in roadway design using GEOPAK and MicroStation
• Preferred Additional Experience (Not Required): Knowledge of topographic and construction surveying
• Preferred Additional Experience (Not Required): Have a solid understand of MnDOT’s consulting expectations and needs
• Preferred Additional Experience (Not Required): Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) license
• Preferred Additional Experience (Not Required): Professional Engineering (PE) license
