Job summary

HDR is seeking an experienced project accountant in Long Beach, CA to manage client invoicing, project budgeting, and contract documentation. You will support project managers and the accounting team while ensuring timely data and compliance across projects.

The role operates within HDR’s employee-owned culture, offering collaboration across disciplines and a wide range of project types in transportation and infrastructure. This position is full-time and on-site in California.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience; advanced degree may offset years of experience.
• Familiar with Earned Value Management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skills.
• Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook.
• Active participant in employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Work autonomously on client invoicing, collections management and project budgeting.
• Accurately contract documentation, administration and maintenance, including fee and budget entry.
• Support project managers and accounting team with project initiation documents.
• Coordinate the project accounting system within the department and ensure contract compliance.
• Prepare contracts/amendments using approved company templates.
• Maintain and track project insurance certificates and renewals.
• Assist with prequalification of subs performing field work.
• Exhibit professionalism with clients and complete tasks autonomously.
• Perform other duties as needed.
