Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation’s Childress District seeks an Engineering Specialist IV to provide technical leadership in transportation design, construction, traffic operations, and bridge inspection. This full-time, non-management position supports district operations and ensures compliance with department standards.

You will oversee contracts for traffic systems, coordinate design efforts with engineers and contractors, and guide project planning and maintenance contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline; substitutions for experience allowed on a year-for-year basis.
• 5 years transportation design, construction, traffic operations, maintenance or bridge inspection experience.
• Valid driver’s license; state vehicle required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee contracts for installation and maintenance of traffic systems and data collection devices.
• Oversee design work among TxDOT entities, consultants, and contractors.
• Plan and schedule district maintenance contracts and service agreements.
• Inspect construction methods and quality of work for compliance with plans and contract requirements.
• Inspect roadways and evaluate road conditions; monitor material testing results.
