Job summary

Univar Solutions in Norcross, GA is seeking a Transportation Planning Supervisor to oversee district transportation planning, ensure coverage of freight orders, and optimize DTP workflows. The role requires strong technical skills and experience with SAPTM and TMS systems, coordinating with branches to meet customer needs and manage capacity.

The supervisor will guide inbound/outbound movements, approve SPOT capacity, and address logistics exceptions, contributing to cost efficiency and service

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of transportation experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of purchasing or logistics processes and functions.
• In‑depth SAPTM system knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the planning of transportation movements in district branches including shuttles, IBTs, outbound orders, bulk/mini‑bulk, inbound fleet movements.
• Monitors and directs the coverage of all open freight orders to ensure optimization and capacity coverage daily.
• Manages and optimizes DTP workflow within the region to ensure all districts are adequately staffed and covered for transportation planning activities.
• Executes the role of DTP in coverage situations.
• Addresses and recommends alternatives for inbound and 3rd party logistics expediting requirements for Purchasing and Sales.
• Directs inbound, outbound, third party, CIBT & IBT products to meet customer requirements.
• Schedules inbound & outbound package and bulk carriers.
• Approves SPOT transportation capacity.
• Works with local branches daily for capacity planning and special requirements.
• Approves freight exceptions on freight bills and purchase orders.
• Makes recommendations for transportation equipment and assists in selection process.
• Responds to District Transportation quality and customer service requirements and determines appropriate actions for in‑transit visibility.
• Interprets company policy and ensures consistent application.
• Provides input to management regarding transportation operating efficiency leveraging the TMS.
• Supervises District Transportation Planners.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years transportation experience in a similar role.
• High school diploma required.
• Knowledge of purchasing or logistics processes and functions.
• Strong technical skills.
• In‑depth SAPTM system knowledge.
• Demonstrated team performer.
• High level of decision‑making ability.
• Maintain customer‑specific data in TMS.
