Job summary

The Town of Cary seeks an experienced Transportation Planning Manager to lead the Transportation Planning Group within the Transportation Department. You will supervise planners, manage complex projects, pursue state and federal grants, and coordinate with regional partners to advance Cary's mobility initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning or related field.
• Master’s degree in Transportation Planning, Engineering or related field.
• AICP certification and/or licensure as a professional engineer required.
• 3–5 years of professional planning experience with at least 2 years in supervision.
• Familiarity with NC CAMPO LAPP or MPO programs and multi-modal planning preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of the transportation planning team, assigning projects and balancing workloads.
• Conduct performance reviews and develop short- and long-term work plans for staff.
• Develop reports and present plan amendments to Town Council and boards.
• Oversee staff liaisons to TWG and Greenway Committee; manage meeting agendas.
• Collaborate with Transportation Engineering on capital project planning, funding and delivery.
• Prepare and submit transportation-related grant applications for the Town.
• Participate in capital budget and operating budget preparation.
