Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation is seeking Transportation Assistant Planning Directors to lead the Office of Program Development and Forecasting or the Office of Environmental Planning. These are on-site roles with telework eligibility after a probationary period and strong emphasis on collaboration with agencies, stakeholders and leadership.

The roles require extensive experience in transportation planning, supervisory responsibility, and ability to manage complex programs

Qualifications

• Nine (9) years of professional experience in transportation engineering or transportation, urban, regional or environmental planning.
• Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory capacity involving transportation planning, urban planning, regional planning or transportation environmental planning.

Responsibilities

• Directs or assists in direction of staff and operations of a Transportation planning office.
• Coordinates, plans and manages unit activities.
• Formulates program goals and objectives.
• Develops or assists in development of related policy.
• Interprets and administers pertinent laws and regulations.
• Evaluates staff.
• Prepares or assists in preparation of office budget.
• Maintains contacts with individuals both within and outside office who might impact on program activities.
