Job summary

State of Connecticut Department of Transportation seeks an Assistant Transportation Planning Director to lead one of the planning offices and coordinate activities across environmental planning and program development units. The role focuses on guiding projects through federal and state requirements and fostering internal and external relationships.

The incumbent will supervise teams, ensure timely compliance, and engage with federal, state, regional, and local partners to advance statewide

Qualifications

• Nine (9) years of professional experience in transportation engineering or transportation, urban, regional or environmental planning.
• Preference for supervisory experience in transportation planning or environmental planning.
• Experience coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage one office within the Bureau of Planning, Technology and Innovation.
• Ensure that all federal and state environmental requirements are met for Department projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with regulatory and other state and federal agencies.
• Review legislation and guidance for impact to Department programs and projects.
• Represent the Department at meetings and conferences.
