Job summary

HDR invites you to join our Transportation Planning Internship for Summer 2027 within the Transportation Business Group. You will gain real-world experience on meaningful projects, collaborating with professionals and mentored by company leaders to apply standard engineering techniques.

Preferred candidates are pursuing a Civil Engineering degree with at least 2 years toward the degree, possess basic MS Office skills, and thrive in HDR’s employee-owned culture focused on impactful transportation

Join HDR during Summer 2027 for an internship in our Transportation Business Group focusing on Transportation Planning.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Transportation Planning Intern, we'll count on you to:

• Participate in real-world experience on exciting projects
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals' programs
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Basic knowledge of CADD (Open Roads Designer a plus)
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
• Preference given to local/regional candidates pursuing their Civil Engineering Degree during Summer 2027
