Job summary

HDR invites students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program to participate in a Summer 2027 internship within the Transportation Planning group. You will work on real-world projects under the guidance of a Project Manager and senior engineers, applying standard engineering techniques and helpful software skills.

The internship emphasizes mentorship, collaboration, and active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture, with opportunities to connect with leaders

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Active participation in the employee-owned culture is expected.

Join HDR during Summer 2027 for an internship in our Transportation Business Group focusing on Transportation Planning.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Participate in real-world experience on exciting projects
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals' programs
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Basic knowledge of CADD (Open Roads Designer a plus)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Preference given to local/regional candidates pursuing their Civil Engineering Degree during Summer 2027
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
