Job summary

Jefferson County is seeking a Transportation Planner or Senior Transportation Planner to coordinate multi‑modal transportation initiatives across the Transportation & Engineering, Road & Bridge, and Planning & Zoning divisions. The role includes reviewing development plans, conducting safety analyses, and coordinating with external agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in planning, urban planning, engineering or directly related field.
• Three years of transportation planning work experience (Senior: five years).
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification preferred.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license required for positions that drive on County business.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service for citizen inquiries regarding transportation safety, planning, and multimodal facilities.
• Attend Planning & Zoning’s weekly Planning Engineering Meetings for development review feedback.
• Coordinate with Road & Bridge district supervisors on development review applications and active projects.
• Review site development plans and transportation studies for proposed facilities in development applications and capital projects.
• Create GIS-based maps and integrate with County GIS efforts.
• Research and implement pilot programs to increase walking, bicycling and transit ridership.
