Job summary

gpac is seeking a Transportation Resident Engineer to lead on-site construction engineering for transportation projects with a strong backlog. The role offers direct access to ownership, mentorship of engineers, and opportunity to advance into leadership while delivering complex projects.

You will mentor staff, manage field reports, liaise with TDOT/IDOT teams, and ensure quality, safety, and schedule compliance on active road and bridge ventures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Relevant experience in transportation construction engineering and resident engineering.
• Familiarity with TDOT standards and IDOT specifications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site construction engineering and resident engineering services for transportation infrastructure projects.
• Monitor contractor activities to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and standards.
• Oversee construction inspection, documentation, quantities, materials testing coordination, and progress reporting.
• Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders as needed.
• Coordinate with IDOT personnel, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
• Maintain daily reports, inspection records, pay item documentation, and project files.
• Identify construction issues, evaluate solutions, and communicate field conditions and corrective actions.
• Support schedule monitoring, pay estimates, change documentation, and project closeout.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and field staff.
