Job summary

Nordstrom is seeking an experienced Transportation Operations Manager to oversee inbound/outbound logistics, yard management, and carrier coordination within our Gainesville fulfillment center.

You will lead a team of Transportation Coordinators, monitor key KPIs, and drive data-driven improvements while ensuring safety and operational excellence across the network.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or fulfillment center operations.
• Strong understanding of yard management systems, shipping platforms, and carrier networks.
• Proven ability to lead and grow teams while driving process improvements.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze data and take action based on improvement opportunities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Looker or Tableau, YMS, and TMS platforms.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for local and national carrier communication, triaging and resolving transportation-related issues.
• Handle truck yard escalations and coordinate timely resolutions to maintain operational flow, including ownership of YMS integrity.
• Monitor, investigate, and drive process improvements based on KPIs such as Yard-to-Empty, Claim Filing Timeline, Late Ships, Late Inducts, On-Time Performance, Air Upgrades, Yard Capacity Utilization and Trailer Dwell Time.
• Coach, develop, and ensure adequate staffing for Transportation Coordinators by providing regular feedback, monitoring performance, and applying corrective actions when necessary.
• Support peak readiness planning including carrier capacity monitoring and surge mitigation strategies.
• Manage relationships with building departments and stay current on evolving building processes and procedures.
• Participate in weekly meetings across Last Mile, FC Transportation, and Carrier teams to review performance and align on operational goals.
• Contribute to transportation process standardization efforts as needed across the network.

Job Description

The Transportation Operations Manager supports the performance of Inbound and Outbound transportation within their respective facility. This individual is responsible for overseeing all aspects of trailer and yard management, shipping and scheduling, carrier coordination, and inbound/outbound logistics within the fulfillment center. This role ensures operational excellence, safety compliance, and timely movement of freight while serving as the primary liaison between internal departments and external carriers.

A day in the life…

• Act as the primary point of contact for local and national carrier communication, triaging and resolving transportation-related issues.
• Handle truck yard escalations and coordinate timely resolutions to maintain operational flow, including ownership of YMS integrity.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations.

Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$68,500.00 - $117,500.00 Annual
