Job summary

Albertsons Companies in Irvine seeks a Transportation Operations Leader to oversee all aspects of transportation and product movement for the division. You will supervise a large driver workforce, manage truckload operations, and partner with corporate teams to control costs and improve on-time performance.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting, and regulatory knowledge, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and service excellence in a fast-paced retail logistics environment.

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree in Logistics or Business preferred.
• 5-10 years’ experience in transportation including private fleet management.
• Expert use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access & associated applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage all Transportation Operations.
• Oversee all product movement for the Division.
• Supervise up to >200 drivers and direct the workforce.
• Manage dedicated truckload operations including cost and on time service performance.
• Analyze equipment lifecycle costs and work with Corporate Transportation for purchasing.
• Coordinate transportation operations with Distribution Center.
• Management and Warehouse Operations.
• Provide superior service to retail stores through on-time delivery and timely return of salvage.
• Provide a safe work environment for all employees.
• Proven ability to manage employee relations (policy, contractual, leadership).
• Communicate with, and listen effectively to employees.
• Responsible for profit and loss of Transportation Department including employee costs, workers’ compensation, equipment, and facilities.
• Develop budgetary and departmental goals; implement cost-saving measures within the department.
• Participate in union contract negotiations.
• Keep abreast of DOT regulations; ensure compliance.
• Optimize utilization of equipment and staffing in a dynamic environment.
• Execute corporate vision and lean distribution.
