Job summary

Messer is the world’s largest privately held industrial gases company. This role leads local Transportation operations, overseeing safety program implementation, driver recruitment, and performance management to meet daily logistics needs.

Strong focus on compliance with DOT/OSHA/Hazmat rules, and collaboration with HSEQ and regional teams. Bachelor's degree preferred; excellent communication and coaching skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and Hazmat regulations.
• Familiar with preventive maintenance programs.
• Highly organized.
• Strong degree of computer literacy.
• Familiarity with Messer Distribution systems a plus (SAP, Gold, Motive, Samsara, NeXIS).
• Good communication skills - must be able to effectively communicate with office staff, drivers, mechanics and senior management.
• Strong coaching skills.

Responsibilities

• Exercise visible leadership with respect to local implementation of global/national/regional safety programs and initiatives.
• Lead incident/injury investigations; address root causes with HSEQ.
• Recruit and select properly qualified drivers and oversee training.
• Drive a continuous improvement focus in location management, processes and people.
• Provide feedback to National Operations Center to improve Transportation operations.
• Manage and motivate office staff and drivers to support business targets.
• Counsel, coach and discipline employees as necessary regarding performance issues.
