Job summary

Albertsons Safeway in Auburn, WA is seeking a Transportation Superintendent to oversee the Seattle Division Distribution Center operations, including supervision of up to 140 drivers and coordination with Distribution Center management to ensure smooth, on-time product movement.

The role emphasizes cost control, safety, regulatory compliance, workforce leadership, and delivering on-time deliveries with a focus on lean distribution and continuous improvement across all transportation functions.

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree in Logistics or Business preferred.
• 5-10 years management level experience in the distribution.
• Expert use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access and associated applications is strongly preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of transportation related software including routing optimization software (Manugistics JDA); truck on-board computer software (XATA); dispatch software (CAMS).
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all product movement for the Seattle Division Distribution Center.
• Supervise up to 140 drivers and direct the workforce.
• Coordination of transportation operations with Distribution Center Management and Warehouse Operations.
• Provide superior service to retail stores through on-time delivery and timely return of salvage.
• Provide a safe work environment for all employees.
• Responsible for profit and loss of Transportation Department including employee costs, worker’s compensation, equipment, and facilities.
• Develop budgetary and departmental goals.
• Implement cost-saving measures within the department.
