Job summary

Sysco Northeast Rdc is seeking an experienced Transportation Supervisor to oversee daily operations, safety and training for transportation associates. You will ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA and company SOPs while coordinating schedules, budgets and asset usage across delivery activities.

The role requires strong leadership, problem solving and communication skills, with a focus on safety and efficiency in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination with related experience.
• 2–4 years of transportation experience and/or training.
• Class A CDL preferred but not required.
• Certificate of DOT regulations training preferred.
• Knowledge of FMCSA/DOT rules and SOPs; proficient with standard office software.
• Ability to read, write and speak English; strong reporting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily work and safety of transportation associates, ensuring SOP adherence.
• Ensures compliance with DOT/OSHA and maintains electronic logs.
• Oversees labor hours and supplies within budget; prepares schedules.
• Assists with training new associates and cross-training existing staff.
• Directs asset use in delivery operations and coordinates repairs as needed.
• Reviews productivity and implements delivery changes to improve efficiency.
• Enforces company policies and conducts training on safety and regulations.
• Communicates with warehouse and customer service to resolve issues.
• Visits customer sites to address delivery challenges and build relationships.
• Maintains associate morale and conducts regular team meetings.
• Supports safety investigations and root-cause analyses with the safety team.
