Job summary

Shive-Hattery is seeking a motivated NEPA Specialist to lead environmental evaluations and permitting for transportation-related projects. The role involves coordinating fieldwork, reporting, and ensuring compliance with NEPA and related regulations while guiding project teams and engaging with clients and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have established relationships with permitting agencies and a strong ability to communicate across disciplines within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field.
• Minimum 5+ years in environmental permitting and regulatory work.
• Strong NEPA experience with FHWA guidelines preferred.
• Ability to interpret maps, site plans and aerial imagery.
• Proven client-facing, cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead NEPA planning and permitting efforts for transportation projects.
• Coordinate fieldwork, data gathering and reporting.
• Prepare technical memos, impact analyses and project documentation.
• Provide guidance to staff and engage clients, stakeholders and contractors.
