Job summary

State of Connecticut's Transportation Materials Technician 2 role is based in the Rocky Hill Materials Testing Laboratory. The position is on-site, full-time, with responsibilities across laboratory and field testing of construction materials.

The candidate should have several years of experience in chemical/physical testing and be capable of calibrating equipment, preparing test reports, and ensuring material conformance to specifications. Travel and a valid driver's license may be required.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in chemical and/or physical testing of construction materials.
• Substitutions include college training in natural sciences or related fields.
• Experience with cement/concrete tests and material assessments.
• May require travel and a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory tests on construction, maintenance materials.
• Calibrate and maintain testing machines and lab equipment.
• Prepare reports/graphs of tests and record observations.
• Review materials conformance with state/federal specs and shop drawings.
• Assist in researching new materials and procedures.
